Church opening food pantry
LIMA - A new food pantry is opening next month at Lima Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1976 Spencerville Road.
The pantry will operate from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first and third Sundays of the month, starting April 5. Food will come from the West Ohio Food Bank.
"There are so many people in need, especially right now," said organizer Jim Kell. "With the economy down, everybody is laid off and out of work."
Families with an income of less than 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline are eligible. For a household of four, the eligible income is $44,100.
The church is also accepting donations, which can be dropped off at the church during school hours Monday through Friday. Those wishing to donate, can also call 419-225-5666 or 419-234-3215.
