Cornfield fire burns 50 acres
Comments 0 | Recommend 0CRIDERSVILLE -- About 50 acres of a cornfield burned late Sunday afternoon in Cridersville at Wapakoneta-Cridersville Road between National and Buckland-Holden roads after a combine malfunctioned and caught fire, according to Rick Miller, Cridersville assistant fire chief.
The blaze betgan at about 3:15 p.m. and took about four hours to put out. Gusting winds threatened nearby homes, but the fire was extinguished before any major property damage occurred, Miller said. The combine had minor damage.
Fire departments from Buckland, Uniopolis, Perry Township, Shawnee Township and American Township assisted with the fire.
