4-H holding membership drive

The OSU Extension office is holding a membership drive this month for youths interested in becoming 4-H members.

Children must be at least 5 years old and in kindergarten to join, and no older than 19. They can call the Allen County extension office at 419-879-9108 or visit its Web site at allen.osu.edu/4h.

“The 4-H tradition of ‘making the best better’ is really exciting for young people,” said Mark D. Light, 4-H educator in Allen County. “There are more than 200 different project areas and only 10 percent of them relate to livestock projects.”

Other areas are robotics, money management, health, family life, photography, rockets, genealogy, bicycles, natural resources, safety, shooting sports, wood working, horticulture and nutrition.

More than 1,000 children and 220 volunteers participated last year in Allen County
