Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. It is clear by our excellent rating that we have a sound school system; it has been run very well. It is important that as a school system we strive for and maintain an excellent with distinction rating and continue to be fiscally successful. As a school board member I will offer support and insight to ensure our district continues to grow successfully as we face changes in the future.Lori M. RingwaldParty: Non-partisanResidence: South Becker Road, SpencervilleAge: 42Relevant experience: Board of education, 2010 to 2011Education: I am a graduate of Spencerville High School and Ohio Northern UniversityYears living in area: Aside from living outside of the district while my husband and I were receiving our degrees, I am a lifelong resident of Spencerville.Major issues: I am running for a second term on the Spencerville Board of Education for one very simple reason; I value a good education. I understand what it can do for you personally as well as what it can do for your community, state, and country. I am a graduate of Spencerville High School and Ohio Northern University and am currently employed as a registered pharmacist. Along with my previous Board of Education experience, I have been involved in many other leadership and volunteer roles within the Spencerville school district and the greater Spencerville area. I am a very visible and proud member of the community. I am proud, in particular, of the dedication and time I have given to my BOE position.Public education is currently plagued by many issues. Difficult economic times and proposed legislation threaten to funnel more funds away from already lean budgets. Along with questionable funding, our schools are also faced with unfunded mandates, a lack of parental support and behavioral concerns, and more demanding nutritional and academic requirements. As I run for a second term, I welcome the challenges ahead, and I assure all citizens within the district that I will continue to be a concerned, informed, and dedicated Board of Education member. I encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote on Nov. 8.Lowell W. SeibertParty: Non-partisanResidence: National Road, Wapakoneta
