The Lima News sent questionnaires to representatives for every issue on the ballot in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Representatives had the opportunity to discuss the major issues with their issue. Only basic information from the board of elections identifies organizations that did not return a questionnaire yet. We continue to receive more questionnaires every day, so check back here soon to see the latest submitted answers.
PUTNAM COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
Levy sought: 0.5 mill replacement tax levy for 10 years
Purpose: Operation and maintenance for Brookhill Center
How much will it raise per year for your organization? $322,000
Cost of the levy to taxpayers: $8.75 per year for $50,000 home; $17.50 for $100,000 home
Why does your organization need the levy? With projected state funding reductions, the additional revenue expected from the levy will partially offset the loss. We expect to operate our quality services in the same efficient manner, meeting the unique needs of our constituents.
What will happen if the levy fails? Projected capital expenditures such as a new school bus will not be purchased. Our enrollment continues to increase. Although no waiting list currently exists for day programming, this may have to be further examined if the levy would fail.
