Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. We need to keep a tight hold on our budget and eliminate unnecessary spending. Our town is slowly coming back to life and I would like to be a continued part of its growth. We have been through a tough time with our past finance officer and things are really picking up. I have four years with his council and we work together like a team. Our mayor has implemented many safety procedures to make sure nothing like our past problems happen again. We have gotten more involved with the community and hopefully it will continue, after all that is our major concern “the community needs.” I would feel privileged to represent our village for four more years.Robert HayesParty: Non-partisanResidence: West Patterson Street, DunkirkAge: 61Relevant experience: I am active working in the community. Working with my fellow residents, friends and neighbors as well as our village council members for a town we can all be proud of.Education: High school diploma and some collegeYears living in area: 11Major issues: I will continue to work with the Hardin Northern Food Pantry, Hardin Northern Community Center as well as our Hardin Northern Library. These entities have enriched the daily lives of almost everyone in our village at one time or another. I will work with our present council and the good folks of Dunkirk to help everyone have a great place to call home.Jaide McBrideParty: Non-partisanResidence: Pine Avenue, Dunkirk
