Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. We donít have all the answers to the questions, but if we ask the right questions we will understand the needs better and meet the standards, and it will come to pass. I enjoy working with the public. I am involved in different groups around the city, and I would like to be involved with the Lima school board as a member, so that is why I am seeking a position on the Lima school board.I believe that a board member should attend board meetings, spend time communicating with students, teachers, parents and community members so all policy decisions, evaluations are made with thorough knowledge and made in the best interest of all children in the district. Also, there needs to be more parental involvement with the community and school.Michael LeyParty: Non-partisanResidence: Ertel Avenue, LimaAge: 27Relevant experience: Employed in the insurance and finance field for seven years. Decision t he board makes need to be based on the best interest of the students in the district and for the organization as a whole. We need to continue to provide the best educational opportunities for the students and make sure our students are prepared for their future. Government cuts will hurt many school districts and we must be practical and look at our spending and ways to operate efficiently. The staff at Lima City Schools do an amazing job preparing students for a bright future. I look forward to helping them continue to move in that direction.Dennis WilliamsParty: Non-partisanResidence: North Nixon Avenue, LimaUNEXPIRED TERMSaul Allen Jr.Party: Non-partisanResidence: Rebecca Drive, Lima
