Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. Alger - CouncilJennifer DyeParty: IndependentResidence: South Front Street, AlgerAge: 39Relevant experience: None, really, just a concerned citizen tired of sitting on the sidelines.Education: Attended Upper Scioto Valley; received GED in 1991.Years living in area: Approximately 31 years.Major issues: These are just a few of the major issues that I feel need to be addressed. An issue is the way that our town has been flooding these past few years. Why? What has changed in our environment to make it do this?Another issue is why there are all the boarded up houses. Canít something be done about these places? All of our property values would rise if we did something with these houses.Iím concerned about our children and all the crime and drugs. We need to bring the town back to include our children. Appreciate our children, and they will appreciate us. They will be the ones running this town some day. Why not start some street dances? Our town used to have them a few times a year for all the children, and they appreciated it. I know, I used to be one of them.Donald R.
