Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. Columbus Grove - MayorKenneth Wright (incumbent)Party: Non-partisanResidence: West Sycamore Street, Columbus GroveAge: 60Relevant experience: Self employed, 32 years; Councilman, 5 years; Mayor, 4 yearsEducation: Columbus Grove High School; trade schoolYears living in area: Rural Columbus Grove, 36 years; Village of Columbus Grove, 24 yearsMajor issues: Being unopposed there are no issues to debate. Having said that the largest project before the village is an EPA mandated sewer plant upgrade and sewer separation in the village. This will cost our 1,100 businesses and residents over $11 million, a huge burden in these economic times. My goals havenít changes from four years ago. I will and do encourage beautification and maintenance of homes and businesses and enforcement of building code violations. While our ability to act is small I firmly believe we must do all we can to support the development of downtown businesses. We are blessed with employees who have been with us many years and do their jobs very well. I feel that my job is to allow those workers and our city council to do their best. I keep a low profile and in that way I can lay claim to being the most boring mayor in Putnam County.
