Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. Upper Scioto Valley Schools - School BoardBill LoweryParty: Non-partisanResidence: County Road 80, AlgerAge: 59Relevant experience: 6 years with USV Board of Education; USVís representative to Ohio Hi-Point Career Center; 37 years of financial experience with Huntington Bank, Lima.Education: 1970 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley School; 1973 graduate of UNOH, LimaYears living in area: Life long resident of Upper Scioto Valley school districtMajor issues: Like most schools our funding is the biggest issue. When the state and federal funding accounts for 80 percent of our operating money there is not a lot we can do. USV has a unique opportunity to have some control of future funding. The wind energy project in our district is close to reality. USV residents need to support this project that will mean so much to our school.
