Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. Hennon (incumbent)Party: Non-partisanResidence: East Market Street, New HampshireAge: 46Relevant experience: I have held the position of Goshen Township fiscal officer, formerly clerk, since 2000. I am proficient in using the Uniform Accounting Network (Auditor of State recommended computer program). Goshen Township audit reports reflect my efficiency. Prior to being elected fiscal officer, I had five years of banking experience which included a supervisory position in charge of the vault at Sky Bank (formerly The Farmers Banking Company).Education: 1983 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School; 1985 graduate of Lima Technical College (now Rhodes State College) in business management; 1987 graduate of Lima Technical College in financial management. Attended Ohio Township Association conferences and also completed extensive training from the Auditor of State.Years living in area: I have been a resident of Goshen Township my entire life.Major issues: Like all local governments in Ohio, our revenue is being cut. As our fiscal officer, I have completed training courses in order to keep abreast of the coming changes. Together with our trustees, I have begun to adjust our budget to reflect expected lower revenue. I am also diligent in finding ways to save our residents money and, if re-elected, will continue to do so.
