Each general election, The Lima News provides this section profiling the candidates and issues. The Lima News sent questionnaires to every candidate in Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties for this election section. Candidates had the opportunity to give biographical information and discuss major issues in their races. Candidates also had an option to submit a photograph. Only names and residences identify candidates who did not return a questionnaire. Riverdale - School Board(Choose two)Sarah T. Gilbert (incumbent)Party: Non-partisanResidence: Township Road 195, ForestAge: 41Relevant experience: In addition to serving the previous four years on the Riverdale school board, I have been involved in numerous organizations in the community.Education: Kenton High School; elementary and special education from Ohio State University; paralegal from Lima Technical College.Years living in area: Lived in Riverdale school district for the last 22 years.Major issues: I believe the major issue in our district will be trying to keep our school financially stable, while continuing to provide all of the educational needs of our students. I am a strong believer in public education. I believe that every child that passes through our doors deserves to be given all of the tools needed to succeed at hte next level, whether it be college or joing the public workforce. Today’s financial climate makes it very difficult to achieve all of our goals, but I believe it is our responsibility as administrators, faculty and residents to do everything we can to ensure the success of our young people.T.
