ELIDA - With all precincts counted, a request for new money for the Elida schools failed in Tuesday's election. A renewal levy, on the other hand, passed.

The 5.95 mill additional levy failed, with 53.2 percent of voters opposing the five-year request for current expenses.

The existing 1 mill renewal levy for five years passed, with 60.6 percent of voters approving it.

The school sought the additional money to maintain programs in light of cuts from state funding and state inventory taxes.
