Lima woman, Columbus Grove man earn Doctor of Osteopathic medicine degrees

LIMA — Julie D. Baker and Matthew C. Gerten, both of Lima, each received a doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine during the May 6 commencement ceremonies.

Baker is the daughter of Diane and Doug Baker of Lima. She earned a bachelor of science degree in microbiology from The Ohio State University in 2012 and is a 2009 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School.

Dr. Baker will begin a residency in internal medicine at Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus.

Gerten is the son of Harold and Judy Gerten, of Columbus Grove. He earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from the Ohio Sate College of Pharmacy in Columbus, and is a 1998 graduate of Columbus Grove High School.

Dr. Gerten will begin a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati.
