LIMA - A sheriff's deputy with a history of violence that once cost the county $75,000 will retire, Allen County Sheriff Dan Beck said Wednesday.

Zane Ditto has agreed to retire from the Sheriff's Office. His last day will be sometime in the next two weeks. Beck said Ditto has been cooperative and willing to work with the department in finding a way to leave.

Ditto's retirement follows a conviction last month for aggravated menacing in Putnam County in which he struck his 6-year-old daughter. Ditto was convicted of assault almost 10 years ago for beating a handcuffed prisoner.
