January meeting was held at the North Robinson St. Paul Lutheran church at 6:30p.m. Pledge of Allegience was given , followed by song “My Country Ti’s of Thee and Prayer led by Don Striker in absence of Chaplain. The C C student of the month Courtney Tinkey, along with her parents Mike & Melissa Tinkey, was welcomed as guests at the dinner meeting. She received a $50 check toward her College, and certificate as student of month.
We were honored to also have Gov. Lion Frances Hensel and Lion Jim & Chloe Gatchell from the Upper Sandusky Lions club as guests. Lion Hensel presented Attendance pins to club members, Beverly Whaley for 15 years, Dave Schwenning 20 yrs, Don Arter20 years, & Jim Erwin 35 yrs.
The Christmas Party held at the Ontario Event Center was also discussed with snapshots of the Living Christmas Trees shown. Dave Schwenning & Carl Watt were the living trees who were draped in green cloth and then decorated with lighted bulbs and baubles by the attendees. along with PDG Lion Dick Temple, PDG Sharon Parker, & PDG Ron Lutz and wife, Lois.
Vera Gwirtz & Sandy Erwin were in charge of the program, which all enjoyed. Two new Lion members Gloria Huber & Jen Sautter were welcomed into the club. A thank you note was read from Clay Fogle one of the scholarship recipients, along with a list of his grades so that another check was sent to him as a student at Findlay College, totaling $1,000. Checks were also given to Col.Crawford Elementary School for Educational materials, $400 . Another sent to Galion CCSG for $400, that operates out of the First Presbyterian church in Galion, which other churches assist also helping the ministry including Emergency Utility Assistance, Perscription Assistance, and a community food Pantry.
The community is all welcome to come and be a part of the Col.Crawford Lions club, which meets every 2nd & 4th Thurs. of the month at 6:30 p.m.
