LIMA - The father of a murdered girl is suing Allen County Children Services for the handling of his daughter's case that ultimately led to her death.

Gilberto Ugalde filed the lawsuit in Allen County Common Pleas Court against Children Services this month. The lawsuit is filed over the beating death of his daughter, Mia Jorris, 2, and injuries to her 3-year-old brother, Matthew Jorris.

Mia Jorris died March 23, 2007, inside an apartment at 365 S. Stevick Road. She was beaten to death by Daniel Stiles, the live-in boyfriend of the children's mother, Kristen Jorris. Stiles was convicted of murder and other charges. Jorris was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and child abuse charges for allowing her boyfriend to injure the children.

During Stiles' trial, Children Service employees testified they had been aware of the abuse for months and were working with Kristen Jorris to make her home safer but had been lied to repeatedly.
