CASA seeks advocates for children

LIMA

CASA of Allen and Putnam Counties, a program of Crime Victim Services, seeks dedicated volunteers to advocate on behalf of children involved in the court system due to abuse and neglect.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers help children achieve safety and permanence in their lives, by being their voices and speaking for their best interest in the courtroom.

Interested candidates much be at least 21 years of age and willing to commit one year to the program. Potential volunteers attend an orientation meeting, are interviewed, undergo a criminal and child abuse background check and complete 40 hours of training before being sworn in as a CASA volunteer.

An orientation meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 16, at Crime Victim Services in Allen County, with training beginning in March.

For more information call 419-222-8666 or email CASA@crimevictimservices.org.
