St. Rita’s Medical Center honored
St. Rita’s Medical Center was recently honored by Lifeline of Ohio for its role in saving lives through organ, eye and tissue donation. The hospital received one of the 14 awards presented by the federally-designated organ procurement organization.
St. Rita’s Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit received the S.T.A.R. award for demonstrating exemplary service, teamwork, attitude and respect in the donation process.
Borton gets meritorious service award
Mel Borton, of Ottawa, was presented with the award for meritorious service to Farmers Union and American agriculture. Meritorious service awards honor those who have made particularly noteworthy contributions to agriculture, humanity and the Farmers Union. This is the highest award the National Farmers Union board of directors can bestow upon an individual.
Borton has dedicated six decades of his life to Farmers Union.
He was born and raised on a farm in northwestern Ohio. He started farming on his own in 1948 as a sharecropper and joined Ohio Farmers Union that year. He has held several leadership roles in Farmers Union and on other national committees. He continues to lobby on the state and national level on behalf of family farmers.
Stolly Insurance Agency awarded
Stolly Insurance Agency, Inc., of Lima earned the distinction of “Presidential Agency Partner” from Western Reserve Group Insurance Company.
Stolly Insurance Agency, Inc., is an independent insurance agency and has represented Western Reserve Group, a property/casualty insurance company of Wooster since April 2003.
The designation of “Presidential Agency Partner” is awarded to agencies which have attained the highest level of performance with Western Reserve Group through sound business practices, professional advice and superior service.
David DeToro joins Perry proTech
Perry proTech announced the addition of David DeToro to IT/Networking team as general manager.
DeToro is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana. He started his first company at 17, while a freshman in college. After graduation, he worked in the IP/telephony arena for seven years for McLeod USA and MCI/WorldCom. In 2004 he started his second company, Divvy Inc., selling advertising and consulting services for the automotive industry. In two years, the company went from $200,000 in annual sales to a corporation of 17 reps and more than $10 million annually in sales.
He is married to his wife, Amy, and they have three children.
Perry proTech promotes two
Jeff Boate has been promoted to president of Perry proTech corporate office, and Barry Clark has been named as CEO.
Kill earns certification
Penny Kill has obtained the board certified home health coder, BCHH-C certification from the National Credentialing Board of Home Health & Hospice.
Kill is one of 500 nurses to obtain this accreditation in the United States. She also holds a certification in home care coding specialist-diagnosis by the Board of Medical Specialty Coding.
Kill is employed by Interim HealthCare.
Local school officials serve on Ohio School Boards Association
Ryan Stechschulte, treasurer of Lima City schools, and Penny Kill, a member of the Spencerville Local Schools and Apollo JVSD, have been named to committees at the Ohio School Boards Association.
Stechschulte has been named to the capital conference planning task force. This committee helps plan the annual Ohio School Boards Association capital conference and trade show, which is held each November in Columbus.
Kill has been named to the arrangements and hospitality team, the Northwest regional executive committee and the rules committee.
The arrangements and hospitality team members assist the five regional managers at the capital conference and trade show, as well as regional events. Committee members also serve as regional liaisons at the region resource center at the capital conference.
The Northwest Region Executive Committee provides governance and leadership to school board members in 20 counties, including Allen, Auglaize, Putnam, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer and Van Wert counties.
The rules committee establishes and approves the association’s rules for its annual business meeting, which is held in November. Each Ohio School Board Association member board of education is entitled to one voting delegate to represent it at the meeting.
Touchstone CPM, Inc. completes project
Touchstone CPM, Inc. was the construction manager on the new St. Rita’s Medical Center’s recently completed $8.9 million emergency department expansion and renovation project in Lima.
Improvements include additional and larger rooms available 24/7 with "family zones,"CarePath technology, behavioral health safe rooms and a mediation and grieving area. The project was designed to provide improved patient and family experience, faster treatment for minor injuries and illnesses and upgraded facilities for treatment of victims in the event of a mass casualty or hazardous catastrophe.
