Ada pharmacy technician awarded

Rite Aid announced the winner of its favorite pharmacy team member contest. Cheryl Minix, a pharmacy technician with Rite Aid, in Ada, won as Pharmacy Team Member. She was nominated for being helpful, friendly and asking customers by name how they are doing. Minix received a $2,500 Rite Aid gift card.

Minix was recognized as the first-ever pharmacy technician to receive the award.

To enter the contest, customers submitted mail-in nominations, in-store forms and online ballots during American Pharmacists Month in October.

Local drivers inducted into Circle of Honor

Nicholas Schwieterman, of St. Henry, and John Walsh Jr., of Findlay, have been inducted into the Circle of Honor, an honorary organization for United Parcel Service drivers who have achieved 25 or more years of accident-free driving.

Ohio has 280 active Circle of Honor drivers with a combined 7,855 years of accident-free driving. There are 2,723 total United Parcel Service drivers in Ohio.

St. Rita’s practices receive recognition

St. Rita’s Professional Services had six family medicine practices receive recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient-Centered Medical Home Program.

The recognized practices include Martz and Martin Family Practice, of Lima; Family Medicine Associates, of Lima; Primary Care Associates, of Lima; Spencerville Physicians, of Spencerville; Klass Family Medicine, of Glandorf; and Family and Sports Medicine, of Ottawa.

The Patient-Centered Medical Home program reflects the input of the American College of Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Osteopathic Association and others to identify and recognize practices that function as a patient-centered medical home. Certain aspects of care are measured including: access and communication; patient tracking and registry functions; care management; patient self-management support; electronic prescribing; test tracking; referral tracking; performance reporting and improvement and advanced electronic communications.

Garmann/Miller & Associates adds graphic designer

Garmann/Miller & Associates in Minster has hired Jamee Thobe as a full-time graphic designer. She will be working on marketing and promotional materials and maintaining the company’s website.

Thobe graduated from Marion Local in 2003 and Sinclair Community College in 2006 with an applied science degree in graphic design. She has been in the graphics field for six years.

She lives in Cassella with her husband, Ryan, and their daughter, Marley.

Lisa Coonfare, CPA, has joined M.A. Hoops & Associates.

Coonfare is a graduate of Ohio Northern University and has 17 years of accounting experience, with nine years in public accounting. Her expertise and responsibilities include financial statement preparation, individual and business income tax preparation.

Aaron Cooper has been promoted to risk manager at Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority in Toledo. He will be the liaison for insurance contacts and manage risk and limit liability for the housing authority.

Cooper is a 1998 graduate of Shawnee High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He is the son of Bonnie and Randy Cooper, of Lima.


McPheron exhibitor at International Housewares Show

Alisa McPheron, owner and chef at Fat Cat Diner, in Lima, was been asked to be an exhibitor at the International Housewares Show, in Chicago. She is one of 60 exhibitors in the Inventor’s Corner Pavilion. McPheron will be representing her Perfect Cheesecake System, hoping to get it into stores.The show runs through Tuesday.

McPheron was also selected to be part of a private media “meet and greet,” held Saturday night. She was one of 25 out of 1,200 exhibitors who got to meet with the media.

(P) Columbus Grove native to speak at event

Mark Wert, formerly of Columbus Grove, now a data and investigations editor with The Cincinnati Enquirer, was asked to speak at the National Institute of Computer Assisted Reporting event in Louisville on Friday. Wert spoke about using data reporting tools to tell breaking stories. He made another presentation with another journalist from New York City, John Keefe, of WNYC Radio.

Wert is a 1973 graduate of Columbus Grove High School and a 1976 graduate of Indiana University.

Sollmann Electric Co., of Sidney finished school project

Sollmann Electric Co., of Sidney, finished another new school building project, Findlay Donnell New Middle School, in Findlay.

Jeramie Sollmann, president of Sollmann Electric Co., was the project manager, and Ron Thornhill was the job site foreman. Electrical construction began in June of 2011, and students started classes in the new building on Jan. 3.

Sollmann Electric Co. is an electrical contractor serving the area since 1973. It installs electrical systems for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential facilities within a 100-mile radius of Sidney.
