ATLANTA — 11:55 a.m., May. 1 — Home Depot stores in Lima and Findlay will both close, the company announced today. In a press release, the company acknowledged it would close store No. 3865 in Lima and No. 3874 in Findlay. The company will close 15 stores nationwide it determined were "underperforming."The closings impact approximately 1,300 associates nationwide. Managers and assistant store managers will be offered other management positions elsewhere, and the company will try to work with others to move them to comparable store positions, according to the company.“Closing a store is always a difficult decision because it affects both our people and our communities,” Frank Blake, chairman and CEO of the company, said in a press release. “But, as with our decision to slow future store growth, this is the right decision and will bring long-term benefits to our associates and to our shareholders. We put our real estate projects through a tight capital efficiency model. This model prioritizes locations that make the most efficient use of capital, reduce cannibalization and drive higher returns. By building fewer stores, in the best locations, and making sure our existing stores are profitable, our company will be in a much stronger competitive position.”Read more about this story in Friday's The Lima News.
