Sollmann Electric Co. apprentice skilled
Jared Heitkamp, of Versailles, employed by Sollmann Electric Company, in Sidney, competed in the Ohio SkillsUSA TeamWorks competition. Heitkamp was one of a four member team that won the gold medal and was rated the top team in the state. The team went on to compete at the National SkillsUSA Competition in Kansas City, Missouri, and received fourth place out of 31 teams.
The teams of four students were required to build a construction project, over three days that demonstrated their ability to work together. Heitkamp performed the electrical work during the construction project and received the highest score possible in the electrical skill area categories.
Trisco Construction recognized
Trisco Construction Services, of Lima, was named “Top 50 Contractors of 2014” by Walls & Ceilings Magazine. These winners are among the industry’s most progressive and resourceful. Walls & Ceilings Magazine selected contractors that displayed numerous skill-sets that warrant them great.
Trisco Construction Services specializes in the repair and rejuvenation of building facades throughout the eastern half of the country with special emphasis in the restoration of exterior insulation and finish systems. The owners are Brian and Steve Walter.
Chief Supermarkets awards associates and stores
Chief Supermarkets recognized associates for their years of service as well as outstanding performance during the year.
Receiving the Bakery Department of the Year award was Celina Chief and Lima Chief (South Cable Road); Deli Department of the Year went to Lima Chief (West Northern Avenue); Frozen Department of the Year was won by Celina Chief; Dairy Department of the Year was Lima Chief (Harding Highway); Grocery Department of the Year was given to Delphos Chief; Front End of the Year was won by Coldwater Chief; Department Manager of the Year was Dave Weldy, produce manager at Lima Chief (West Northern Avenue); Store Management Team of the Year went to Chris Pauff and Trina Cannon, of Lima Chief (South Cable Road); Store of the Year was awarded to Lima Chief (South Cable Road).
Mental health instructors attend training
The Partnership for Violence Free Families received funding to send nine individuals to the mental health first aid instructors training in Toledo. Persons certified as instructors are Elisa Bradley, Dyesha Darby, Jodi Factor, Brooke Featheringham, Tami Gough, Julie Norberg, Dan Norberg, Mandy Rinker and Rick Skilliter.
These instructors will be hosting mental health first aid training in Allen, Auglaize and Hardin counties on a continuous basis.
Niswonger Performing Arts Center hosts volunteer dinner
Niswonger Performing Arts Center held a volunteer appreciation dinner for its nearly 200 volunteers. Guest were served a dinner from Black Angus Catering.
