LIMA — Lima Memorial Health System was recently recognized by Ohio First Steps for Healthy Babies program for its effort of supporting breastfeeding.
The Ohio First Steps for Healthy is a voluntary breastfeeding program recognizes maternity centers in Ohio for making an initiative to support, protect and promote breastfeeding.
Selected facilities are presented with the “Maternity Care Best Practice Award” for its commitment to not distribute infant formula or formula company-sponsored sample packs.
“Breastfeeding is a wonderful way for a newborn baby to receive the necessary antibodies to fight off viruses and bacteria,” said OB Clinical Nurse Manager, Joan McBride. “At Lima Memorial our staff is committed to have thoughtful conversations with our patients about the benefits of breastfeeding in order to educate patients and the community.”
