LIMA — The Meals ‘til Monday program was the beneficiary of two separate donations during the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce press conference Monday.
Through the money raised from the Missed-A-Meal program in November and money from local businesses, members from the Allen Lima Leadership Class of 2017 were able to donate money to the Meals ‘til Monday organization. Members of the class donated $6,863.22 to Jenny Earl with Meals ‘til Monday. The funds will help provide approximately 2,300 students with meals and backpacks.
Additionally, through the funds raised through the Safety Council 50/50 drawing, Craig Hohenbrink, president of the West Central Ohio Safety Council donated $1,015.00 to Earl during Monday’s press conference.
Meals ‘til Monday is a nonprofit that provides meals to elementary kids in need within the Lima region. Through the program meals are packed on Monday and delivered to students on Friday.
“Its really rewarding when we see our members actually giving back,” said Hohenbrink. “It fit in well with what we stride to do for safety and well-being and health for our employees, but we thought this was a way to extend it to the families as well.”
