Harpster is new Lima building official

Amy Harpster, the newly appointed Building Official for the City of Lima Allen Couny Building Department, expresses her gratitude towards the Mayor and city council during Lima Mayor Berger’s press conference, Wednesday.


LIMA — As the new building official for the City of Lima Allen County Building Department, Amy Harpster said she looks forward to fulfilling her position and serving the community.

Howard Elstro, Lima’s Public Works Director, announced at the Mayor’s Press Conference on Wednesday that Harpster would be the replacement for Bill Brown, the previous building commissioner of 17 years. She will now be one of three female code officials in Ohio.

Harpster holds an Associates of Applied Science degree, an Associates of General Studies degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is also a certified building inspector, residential building official, a commercial building inspector, residential inspector and certified Lima electrical journeyman.

“I’m certainly humbled by the opportunity to step up to the plate and do what is required to be a building official,” she said. “I hope that I’m able to facilitate any customer service issues and I look forward to serving the community.”
