Comments 0 | Recommend 0HANCOCK COUNTY - Three people were injured when a tractor-trailer crashed into the back of a full school bus Tuesday.
Jeff Launder, 42, and Tamara Launder, 30, both of Williamstown, were taken to a hospital where they were treated for possible neck and back injuries. A 5-year-old child also was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office reported.
The crash occurred at 12:56 p.m. on U.S. Route 68 near township Road 25 in Jackson Township. The tractor driver, Paul Sarhan, 29, of Markdale, Ontario, was driving north on U.S. 68 approaching an Arlington Local Schools bus slowing in stopped traffic, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Sarhan was unable to stop and struck the bus in the rear. The bus had 28 pupils and nine parents aboard. No one else was injured. Sarhan was cited for assured clear distance ahead, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Another bus was brought to transport the remaining passengers.
Sarhan was hauling 10,800 chickens on his way to Toronto. Sarhan's tractor-trailer was towed from the scene, the Sheriff's Office reported.
