ARCADIA — A Tiffin man died after his vehicle rear-ended a grain trailer full of corn early Monday, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

At 5:31 a.m. Monday, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of county Roads 330 and 216 in Washington Township. An investigation showed Craig M. Scalf, 55, of Tiffin, rear-ended his 2013 Ford Escape into a 2000 Kenworth W900 tractor pulling a grain trailer full of corn along county Road 216.

Scalf apparently failed to stop for the posted stop sign, striking the trailer, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Scalf was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash. The driver of the tractor, 45-year-old James A. Cole, of Mount Blanchard, wasn’t injured.
