A bomb threat was called into Oberlin’s CVS Pharmacy last Tuesday at 1:40 p.m., Oberlin police confirmed.
A woman told the manager she put a bomb inside the store Monday night, saying she would detonate it unless she got $500 on 10 reloadable debit cards.
Lakewood police contacted Oberlin about the threat after the CVS in their city told police the Oberlin store received a bomb threat.
The manager said the woman requested that everyone stay inside the store and not to call the police. Investigators evacuated the store and searched the building, but no devices were found.
The CVS loss prevention member said the same circumstances have been used at several other stores to scam money, according to a police report.
