Bluffton University statement about NTSB's meeting
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The following is a statement from Dr. Eric Fulcomer who was present at the NTSB board meeting today in Washington, D.C.
"Bluffton University is pleased that the NTSB has completed its investigation of the March 2, 2007 bus accident in Atlanta, Ga., and has issued its report. On the morning of the accident, we received word from Congressman Jim Jordan's office that a full investigation into the crash had been initiated. Now that investigation is complete, and the report is released.
On days like today, my thoughts first turn to those who lost their lives as a result of the bus accident and their family members who continue to feel unimaginable loss every minute of every day. I think of Zachary Arend, David Betts, Scott Harmon, Cody Holp and Tyler Williams. I think of their parents, siblings, grandparents and extended family members. I think of Jerry and Jean Niemeyer and their children, grandchildren and extended family members. I also think of all of our students and coaches who survived the accident and continue to recover from their physical injuries and emotional trauma-and their families who support them. Today is a day to remember what happened, who was lost and to work toward preventing future accidents.
With regard to the report released today, we join the NTSB's call to improve motor coach safety and are pleased that this was given attention in the final report. We thank the team that investigated this accident and all those involved in this thorough review process during the past 16 months."
