Truck-train accident in Leipsic leaves fluids on ground

LEIPSIC - 11:25 a.m., May. 6 - Hazardous materials crews are on the scene of a semi truck-train accident on Main Street in Leipsic.
Hazardous materials crews were pouring sand onto the ground to keep diesel leaked from the truck from spilling into sewers. Josh Walters, assistant director of the Putnam County Emergency Management Agency, said crews responded because of the amount of oil and diesel spilled from the truck.
Walter said Crews were able to contain the spilled liquids to the first storm sewer 10 to 15 feet from the truck, and it didn't spread beyond that.
The accident occurred at the intersection of state Route 613 and the train tracks around 10:45 a.m. today.
According to scanner traffic, the driver of the truck was walking around but needed help from emergency crews.
Additional information was not immediately available.
