LIMA — An early-morning fire to the back porch and attic area of a Jackson Street residence resulted in an estimated $2,300 in damages on Thursday.
According to a spokesman for the Lima Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at 12:25 a.m. Thursday to 239 S. Jackson St. in reference to a house fire. Upon their arrival, firefighters found flames at the rear of the home and extinguished the blaze. Going inside the home, firemen found that the fire had climbed an inside wall and into the attic.
Damage was limited to the back porch and attic of the home, owned by Deangelo Cook. The occupant of the home, James Blume, called the fire department when he returned home that morning and found the house on fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the fire department spokesman.
