St. Rita’s implements flu restrictions

LIMA — To protect patients from the flu virus, Mercy Health-St. Rita’s is requesting individuals experiencing flu symptoms refrain from visiting others in the hospital.

Symptoms of influenza can include fever, body aches, sore throat, cough and fatigue. Most people recover from the flu, but others develop worse illnesses, such as pneumonia and respiratory failure, and the flu can prove fatal to them.

St. Rita’s requests that children under 14 years old not be brought to the hospital unless they need medical care. It is requested visitors coughing frequently wear a mask to cover their cough or cough and sneeze into their sleeves. Visitors should wash their hands frequently.
