Wapakoneta man jailed for having gun while driving drunk


WAPAKONETA — A Wapakoneta man was arrested late Monday night for having a handgun in his possession while intoxicated.

According to Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon, at approximately 11:25 p.m. Monday deputies were dispatched to a residence on Buckland River Road, north of Wapakoneta, on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival in the area, deputies located a vehicle being operated by Daniel L. Flaute, 36, of Wapakoneta.

According to the sheriff, deputies located a handgun on Flaute’s person, and he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Flaute was arrested for having weapons while intoxicated and driving under the influence and was transported to the Auglaize County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation. Additional charges could be filed, Solomon said.
