LIMA — Lima police officials were looking deeper into evidence Friday in an attempt to gain information surrounding a shooting one day earlier that left a Lima man in critical condition in a Toledo hospital.
Detective Steve Stechschulte of the Lima Police Department said Friday afternoon that Michael Davis, 25, remained in critical condition after being shot multiple times early Thursday evening.
According to the initial report issued by Lima police, officers were called shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of North Metcalf Street, where they found Davis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Davis was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Stechschulte said Friday that, despite earlier reports, Davis was then transferred to Toledo Mercy Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Earlier reports indicated Davis was transferred to the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
The suspect in the shooting was described by police as a taller black male, wearing all dark clothing and a mask. He was last seen running from the scene in an east to northeasterly direction.
Stechschulte on Friday said investigators are “following up on leads” and are “looking into both physical and technological evidence” in an attempt to gain additional information surrounding the shooting.
