FINDLAY — A commercial tractor-trailer struck a vehicle north of Findlay on Monday as it attempted to make a left turn and pulled into the other car’s path.

James Starkey III, 47, of Carey, drove a 2016 Mack truck south on county Road 140 when he attempted to make a left turn onto county Road 99, according to a statement from Deputy Barry Turner of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. That’s when Starkey’s truck struck a 2000 Dodge four-door vehicle driven by Shaun Cooper, 34, of Fostoria.

Hanco EMS took Cooper to Blanchard Valley Hospital for possible injuries. His vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene by Dick’s Towing.

Starkey’s truck was towed from the scene by EDS Towing. He was checked at the scene and refused further treatment. Starkey received a citation for failure to yield the right of way when turning left.
