LIMA — John Waller, of Lima, loves fast cars. He credits his father, Ken Waller, for this passion.
His dad was a drag racer in the late ’60s and early ’70s, and young John would be at every race. Waller owns American Mall Auto Care on Elm Street in Lima.
Waller owns this 1963 Chevy Nova, with the license plate that reads, “1BDNOVA.”
A customer who bought Waller’s 1975 Chevy Corvette had owned this 1963 Chevy Nova. The car had only 52,000 miles on it with a body that was almost rust-free. Waller bought the car.
It took him two years to build and upgrade the car to what he wanted. And, you guessed it, he wanted it fast. He took out the six-cylinder, three-speed engine and replaced it with a 410 cubic inch Stoker engine with a promise of 550 horsepower.
The license plate doesn’t lie, this is one bad Nova!
While Waller acknowledges his love for fast cars, he also enjoys giving back to the community. He and his friend, Andy Maravola, are responsible for the Westgate Charity Car Show. The show was held Sunday at the Lima Chevrolet Cadillac dealership on Lima’s North Cable Road.
