I enlisted from August 2008 to August 2012. I served with 82nd Airborne, 4th Brigade Combat Team in Operation Enduring Freedom X Afghanistan. Iím now 32 years old.

Bottom line, the military develops leaders. The role you serve as a member of a team and the responsibility it takes to complete a mission in any conditions contribute to decision making and communication skills that are necessary in any career. The military provides significant technical training along with many health and job performance programs that enhance financial skills, stress management and equal opportunity. Even the physical fitness program increases job performance capabilities and capacity. Along with the experience gained as a military member, the education opportunities available through Veteranís Affairs better prepares each individual to compete in the job market.

The biggest drawback is transitioning from the front line to, possibly, the unemployment line. Military life is structured and has many health support programs. In transition, many of these programs and networks are no longer available. The goal of the veteran has to be to keep as many of these connections open as possible to ensure the support and stability that also makes the military such a successful employer.
