My service time was spent with the Army Security Agency in South Korea just after the Korean War (1950 to 1953).

I was impressed with what a desolate and impoverished country it was at that time. Fortunately, I wasn’t involved with any combat which would have been horrendous to say the least.

I have tremendous respect for those who served during that time and for those who gave their lives. These are the men and women who should be considered “heroes.”

It’s amazing to me the people today who are considered heroes. I think you know what I mean.

It was an invaluable experience for me as a green 19 year old. Surely I’d recommend it to many young people.
