Artificial hips corrode, poisoning some patients, lawsuits say

Scott Ebert, 49, pictured in his Palm Beach home, has suffered metal ion poisoning and been in constant pain since a now-recalled hip joint was implanted in him to alleviate his arthritis. The recalled Stryker modular joint apparently corroded almost immediately after it was installed. It was removed months later, and replaced with another Stryker joint, but Ebert is still in terrible pain, he still has a soft-tissue pseudotumor and can barely work.
