LIMA — Clint Foster has many loves, many interests. And he likes it that way.Foster is now a personal trainer at Fitness Solution 24/7, helping people reach fitness goals. He was a football player, a defensive end for the Lima Senior Spartans and the Lima Warriors. He's taking classes on the side, trying to further his education. He's planning a wedding with Melissa Stuber and working on blending their families. And he loves to cook. He graduated from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, a two-year program. He often helps in the kitchen at his church, Cornerstone Harvest Church. He first realized his love of cooking in Lima Senior's culinary arts program, at the time led by Carrie Hamilton. She was a big influence, Foster said, on helping him realize he could do anything if he tried hard enough. He enjoyed the challenge of cooking, knowing the responsibility was his alone to make a good final product.“You are taking something out of nothing and creating it,” he said. And it reminded him of growing up. He gives much credit to his mother, who raised five children by herself and instilled in him values that he carries today. His mother, Carolyn Foster, always served a big breakfast to get the day started off well. “I like doing breakfast. Growing up, I saw my mom doing that,” he said. “That's why I started cooking. It makes you feel warm, like you're at home.”He was introduced to today's recipe via his fiancee. It was her late mother's recipe, and he has changed it a bit to suit his tastes. It originally called for ham, but he prefers turkey sausage. It's a recipe that is very adjustable.“You can play with it,” he said. “You could flip this and really turn it healthy, too. You could make it all egg white.”Cooking is something anyone should try, he said. “It teaches you something. It shows you that you can be somebody,” he said. “You walk into a phone booth, and you come out Superman.”Have a suggestion for who should be featured in this spot? Email amcgee@limanews.com.
