LAFAYETTE — Edna Emans, of rural Lafayette, will celebrate her 100th birthday June 16, 2013. An open house is planned from 2 to 4 p.m., June 16, at the Lafayette United Methodist Church on Main Street in Lafayette.
She was born June 16, 1913 near Gilboa to Henry and Uzela (Ramsey) Fairchild. On Oct. 5, 1931, she married Glen Emans and he is deceased.
Emans has three sons, Robert (Mary Lou) Emans, of Pemberville, David (Karen) Emans, of Pandora and Floyd (Lynda) Emans, of Kenton. She has 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She retired from Lima Memorial Hospital after 27 years of service, and then worked at Bluffton Hospital for seven years. After retiring from that hospital, she volunteered at Mennonite Memorial Home for four years.
Emans enjoys quilting and during her retirement has made 36 quilts. She also enjoys gardening and still does her own canning and freezing. Her favorite thing is to spend time with her family and friends.
