LIMA — Henrietta Spencer, of Lima, is celebrating her 90th birthday today, May 12, 2013.
She was born May 12, 1923, in Marseilles. She graduated from Marseilles High School in 1941, and from Northwestern Business College in 1942. During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Government Cleveland Ordinances stationed at the Ohio Steel Foundry. She was then employed by Superior Coach Corporation for 34 years, retiring in 1978.
Spencer was one of the first members of Superior Credit Union and served on the loan committee.
In November of 1946, she married Ralph Spencer, and he died June 8, 1976.
She volunteered for many years with the Lima Memorial Auxiliary and was a 50-year member of Ida Rebekah Lodge #391, Order of Eastern Star, Trinity Chapter #16 and Lima White Shrine #20. She is a member of the Lima Chapter DAR and Lima Senior Citizens Center.
Spencer has three nephews, Monty Noyes and Norman Noyes, of Marion, and Barry Noyes of Morral. She has a cousin, Carl Spencer of Harrod.
She has been a long-time member of Market Street Presbyterian Church, and she currently resides at Elmcroft of Lima.
