LIMA — WTGN radio celebrates its 45th anniversary with a perfect concert Saturday bridging the past and present, featuring Keith and Kristyn Getty. The duo, natives of Ireland, came to the United States where they holed up and wrote modern day hymns that incorporate the hymns of old with the praise of new. Many of their songs have become the standard praise songs of today.A perfect anniversary concert linking the past and present.“But the real reason we wanted them to come to town for our anniversary concert is because they're very, very good modern day hymn writers. I think their most popular song, ‘In Christ Alone' is now a staple in many churches,” said Scott Young, general manager of WTGN.“There is real depth in their lyrics. We're hoping that people who do praise and worship music will come to this concert and take back even more of the music to their congregations,” Young said.“I really believe that somewhere in the next generation, their songs will become hymns for the church,” Young said. Joining the Getty's in concert will be Charles Morris from “Haven Today.”
