OTTAWA — Edna (Fortman) Gerdeman will celebrate her 100th birthday July 10, 2013. Birthday greetings may be sent to Putnam Heritage, 1380 N. Locust, Ottawa, OH 45875. An open house is planned from 2 to 4 p.m., July 20th at the Glandorf Parish Hall, in Glandorf (this is the old school next to the church).
She was born July 10, 1913. On Oct. 26, 1935, she married Raymond Fortman, and he died June 28, 1964. On April 20, 1981, she married Paul Gerdeman, and he died Oct. 2, 1985.
She has nine children, Jim (Alene) Fortman, of Piqua, Joyce (Eugene) Renzi, of Sackets Harbor, NY, Phyllis Poulson, of Stevensville, MI, Joan (Len) Ebbeskotte, of Glandorf, Tom (Karen) Fortman, of Lakeview, Carol (Mike) Okuley, of New Bavaria, Dan (Lynn) Fortman, of Shelby, Marcel (Charles) Dorman, of Vienna, VA and Deb (Chett) Bryant, of Marblehead. She has 38 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Gerdeman is a member of Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
She enjoys listening to book tapes and all kinds of sports. She also enjoys getting greeting cards and having company.
