FINDLAY â?? Rhoades â??Dustyâ?ť Diehl will celebrate his 90th birthday on Aug. 6, 2012. His wife, Ruth Diehl, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Aug. 26, 2012. An open house will be held for both of them from 2 to 4 p.m., Aug. 11, 2012, at their home in Findlay, hosted by their daughter and son-in-law.



Rhoades Diehl was born Aug. 6, 1922 in Leipsic to Elsie and A.J. Diehl. His wife, Ruth Hazelton Diehl was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Ottawa to Chloe and John Hazelton. They were married on Oct. 19, 1939, in Columbia, Ind.



They are the parents of one daughter, Patricia (Garry) Locke, of Lima. They have three grandchildren, Kristina (Gary) Weisenstein, of Ohio, Gerald â??Dustyâ?ť (Bobbie) Locke, of NC and Andrew Locke, of AZ. They have 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.



Diehl served in the military as a Master Sgt. during WWII and the Korean Conflict.



They owned and operated the J&K Laundry until 1965 when they moved to Findlay to open Star Pawn Shop, which is where they retired from. They operated a variety of other businesses for 45 years.



While in Ottawa, Dusty was president of the Park Board in 1961. He was involved in starting the first swimming pool in Ottawa as well. They were members of Trinity Methodist Church, in Ottawa. Upon moving to Findlay, they joined Powell Methodist Church.



Diehl is a member of the Masons and Shriners. His wife belongs to Eastern Stars.
