LIMA — Carolyn Steiger, of Lima, celebrated her 90th birthday April 19, 2013. An open house is being held today for family and friends.
She was born April 19, 1923, in Spencer Township to Arthur and Sylvia Place. On Dec. 7, 1945, she married William J. Steiger, and he died Nov. 27, 2007.
Steiger has two sons, Mike (Beth) Steiger, of Lima and Steve (Elaine) Steiger, of Spencerville. She has four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She has one sister, Jean (Bob) MacDonald and one sister-in-law, Beryl Place. One brother, Richard Place, is deceased.
She is a 1941 graduate of Spencerville High School. She is a retired secretary from Spencerville Schools. Steiger and her husband were co-owners and founders of Spencerville’s Lyn-Lee Lanes Bowling Alley. She is a lifetime member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ.
Steiger enjoys visiting with friends and family and attending the Allen County Council on Aging Elderly Day Care.
