This weeks lesson is all about rebates and using different rewards programs.

Rebates

When you are purchasing a product and it comes with a rebate, its always good to send that rebate in to earn a rebate back. If you use coupons, you can still submit most rebates. Some companies will give you a full rebate when you use a coupon and others will give you a rebate minus the amount of the coupon used. You may not use coupons on every item you have a rebate for. You can find rebates by looking on the product itself. If no rebate form or information is found on the product or inside the package of a product, simply go to the companys website. Several companies offer rebates for their products. For a quick reference you can view these at www.StephanieSavings.net, click the Rewards-Rebates tab.

There are various types of rebates. Some rebates will ask you to purchase a certain product and mail in your rebate. Some rebates will ask you to purchase a certain dollar amount before they send you a rebate. For example, the rebate may say Purchase $50 in select P&G products listed on this form and get a $15 pre-paid Mastercard by mail. The $50 indicated is the subtotal before sales tax and any coupons or discounts are applied. Discounts refers to you using store rewards, such as your Up rewards from Rite Aid to help pay for your purchase. As long as your subtotal is $50, you will get the $15 pre-paid card. Some rebates come by check.

You can also get use rebates during buy-one-get-one-free store promotions. However, unless otherwise indicated, you will only receive one rebate even though youre purchasing two products. The nice thing about this is you do end up getting both items free, even without the use of coupons. Youll need to pay for one at the store and one will be free because of the store promotion. The rebate covers the cost of the one you had to pay for in the store. These type of deals usually make you a profit if coupons are allowed and are used. Most rebates are a limit of one per household. There are some that allow more. This information varies and can found by reading the small print.

Reward programs

Reward programs are just that, rewards. You get rewarded for purchasing certain products, just like you get rewards for purchasing certain products at some stores. Many companies offer some type of rewards program for purchasing their products. This helps them because it gets you to purchase their product and it helps you save lots of money. So, this is a win-win. Reward programs vary. Some programs give you free products, gift cards, toys, books, magazines, free photo prints, coupons for free products, and online discounts. Reward programs vary from items such as baby products, gas, food, and even department store merchandise. Most rewards programs do not charge you to use them. Be very cautious if you come across a rewards program for a specific brand you are purchasing and it says you will be charged or asks you for any type of payment information. I personally have never seen a company charge. If this happens to you, call the company directly and ask. Never give your banking information, because this could be a scam. You can view and sign up for legitimate reward programs through www.StephanieSavings.net by clicking the Rewards-Rebate tab. All companies listed are completely free and safe to use. You will also find direction on how each particular company works, since they are all different. Reward programs are a great way to have family involvement. Kids and teens love some of the ways you can earn rewards and they love to help with this. Its free, and it gives your family time together.
