95th Birthday — Luella Hammill

LIMA — Luella Hammill will celebrate her 95th birthday May 14, 2012. A party was held May 5, at Lima Convalescent Home.She was born May 14, 1917, in Allen County, to Louis and Luella Moenter. On May 12, 1945, she married John Hammill, while they were both serving in the United States Navy, in Washington D.C. He died in April of 2003. Hammill has two sons, Jack (Gena) Hammill and Tom (Lynda) Hammill, both of Lima; and one daughter, Judy (Joe) Landwehr, of Lima. She has four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.She was a private caterer for numerous years, providing meals for private and public events. She continued to cater until she reached age 92. Hammill bowled in several leagues until she was 87.She is a long time member of St. John Catholic Church, in Lima and served several years in the Altar & Rosary Society, was a Lector and was in the church choir. She is currently on the Resident Advisory Board of the Lima Convalescent Home.
