MARIA STEIN — Mildred “Mude” Hausfeld celebrated her 90th birthday Feb. 27, 2013. Friends and relatives stopped by her home during the week to wish her a happy birthday. A family gathering was also held at the Hausfeld residence on her birthday.
She was born Feb. 27, 1923, in St. Henry, to Alfred and Bernadine Davis. On July 24, 1948 she married Roman “Romie” Hausfeld. They will celebrated 65 years of marriage in July.
Hausfeld has one son, Joe (Lisa) Hausfeld, of West Carrollton; and six daughters, Marily Hart, of Miamisburg, Pat Clough, of Dayton, Marti(Dave) Hissong, of Centerville, Theresa (PJ) Garlock, of Lima, Joannie (Jan) Kentner, of Wapakoneta and Annie (Mike) Bollheimer, of Fort Loramie. One son, Robert “Bob” Hausfeld, is deceased. She has 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mude graduated from St. Henry High School, in St. Henry. After high school, she worked at Scientific and Buckeye Apparel. While her children were growing up she worked summers at Beckman and Gast. She also worked with her husband for more than 20 years managing the Knights of St. John’s Hall in Maria Stein.
She loves listening to the Cincinnati Reds, keeping up on the latest news and spending time with her family. She continues to surprise her family and friends with her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
