LIMA — Take a fresh look at Lima's downtown when you take part in the first of three “Photo Shoot Nights,” set for Thursday in Lima's Town Square.“We invite anyone to come to this. It doesn't matter your level of experience or what equipment you have ... you can bring your camera phone if you want,” said Jennifer Brogee, planning committee member for the Downtown Lima project.Participants will take a 90-minute tour of downtown Lima, learning how to take great shots. The first tour will be led by Jay Sowers, photographer for The Lima News. Subsequent tours will be led by Jaclyn Sollars from Avalon Photography on July 12 and Michael Ayers from The Ayers Incorporated on Aug. 14.“These tours are very laid-back so people can ask questions as they go. It's not a class, it's just a fun time,” Brogee said. The photo shoots are free. “We just want people to have some fun, and of course maybe see downtown Lima with a new eye. And, there's such great history downtown that will also offer a new perspective,” Brogee added.Photos shot of downtown Lima during 2012 can be submitted into a competition hosted by Downtown Lima. Top prize for the competition is $200. Additional winners will be awarded $50 each. The pieces will be on exhibit through October at various downtown locations. For information, visit www.visitdowntownlima.com.
